As someone who's been wearing clip in hair extensions for the last 10 years I've tried some amazing and not so amazing brands! For me shedding and tangling is always a huge issue, but I'm pleased to say I'm in love with these extensions! Im also a huge fan of Amber Fillerup and always admired her hair so I was over the moon when she released her own line of extensions and I had to try them out.
I've waited until now to do a review, as I wanted to make sure I had been using these for a few months before I could give an honest review. I've broke this review down into different sections of what I always look for in a brand of extensions. Hope you enjoy reading and have a great week ahead!
Price - The barefoot blonde extensions come out at around £190 when you add shipping and import tax. (My import tax was £30 then I had to pay a handling fee as I wasn't home when they arrived) Compared to other brands this is about average price for a good full head of human hair extensions.
Comfort - These extensions are so much more comfortable than other brands I have tried, sometimes brands make their extensions so thick and luscious, which is great, but then the wefts end up extremely heavy and thick. These extensions are the best of both worlds, a decent thickness and comfortable weighing wefts. I wear these extensions for around 10 hours at a time and I have never felt the need to move or take out wefts.
Clips - The clips on these extensions are the standard blonde clips with silicone grips. The good thing about these ones though is that they are slightly smaller that other brands I've tried and they ‘snap’ better, If you wear extensions you will know what I mean!
Thickness - These extensions are the perfect thickness for me to wear every day or on a night out. They hang nice and have a good weight to them in the bottom. They don't give me a super thick glam look like my older extensions, however they look much more natural and I get more complements in these. Normally when I wore my old extensions people would say ‘oh I love your extensions’ however when I wear the bfb ones i get complements like ‘your hair is so long and in such good condition’ So to me that sounds like they look a lot more natural!
Colour - I went for shade Barefoot Blonde which is a medium light blonde, in the traditional colours. I would say this is a darker version of the 613 blonde colour you see online a lot. I personally prefer this to 613 as the colour is much more natural and has more natural tones running through them.
Blending - Luckily, as I've worn hair extensions for many years I knew exactly what colour to choose from on the website. However there is a pleanty of photos online to make a decision. The extensions also come with a tester weft for you to try first which is great. However, I would always try to make the right decision beforehand as with shipping an import tax to the UK it could end up being pretty pricey to return and get a new set sent out. Amber will also help out with colour matching as I've seen people request for advice on Instagram and Twitter.
Shedding - Now anyone who wears hair extensions will know what a nightmare shedding is! The amount of times I have got out of a car and left hairs all over the place is hilarious. Luckily with the bfb extensions shedding has been pretty minimal for me. The first time I unpackaged them I had a few hairs fall out in the brush when I first applied them which is pretty normal with a new set, since then shedding has not been an issue. When the hair does gradually shed is just one or two hairs throughout the day, some other extensions I have brought in the past shed in clumps so I am really impressed with this on the bfb hair. This is mainly one of the reasons I will definitely buy again!
Storage- Now can I just say… how amazing is the packaging! I have never had extensions that have come in a box. The attention to detail in this brand is amazing and I can tell so much time and effort has gone into these Normally extensions always have the fiddley plastic sleeves that honestly I can never be bothered to put them back in afterwards. The box idea is great and its definently helping me to keep my extensions in much better shape especially when travelling.
Age - So I have had my extensions for just over 3 months now, I wear them every weekend all day and occasionally after work in the week if I'm going for a meal etc. I've curled them every time I've worn them and also washed them once in this time. I can honestly say they look no different than the day i brought them. With the amount i wear these I can expect these to last me 8/9 months or so before I would like to get a new set.
FYI I always use my old sets of extensions for braids, buns or anything that needs a messy or backcombed style this avoids causing un necessary damage to my nice glossy new set! I also use old sets when I am going to the beach or swimming.
